It is one of the most well-thought-out and structured laws in the country that’s well balanced between the industry and consumers to preserve rights if certain steps are taken, while providing consumers with a proper payment defense. NEW SILICA RULE:
The full new rule is out as of this morning. It is 1,772 pages and we will be reviewing and evaluating it’s impact. The rule has changed, not sure how much in our favor, but it appears there are two rules one for construction and one for general industry. They seem to have exempted mixing mortar as a task from the rule, but cutting is in. We can likely live with leaving cutting in, but we will have to evaluate the full rule. I wanted you all to have access to it so you knew what was happening. I will be back likely early next week with some additional summary. https://s3.amazonaws.com/public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2016-04800.pdf By THE RECORD Two teams of students from Pedro Menendez High School recently put their brick-laying abilities to the test in the SkillsUSA Regional Masonry Showcase in Starke. Each competitor was tasked with building his or her own brick wall according to specifications required by the judges. Menendez was the only school to bring an all-girls team into competition. From the girls team, Kaylee Folckemer, I’Leisha Smith and Sydney George will be advancing to next month’s state competition. The boys qualifying for state competition are Tommy Mouse, Jonathan Looney and Ethan Stewart.
